Visiting Opportunities At CFC

The Craniofacial Center Nepal in Janakpur welcomes visiting oral and maxillofacial surgeons, as well as craniofacial surgeons, who are interested in gaining substantive exposure to cleft and craniofacial care in a high-need region. The center performs approximately 200 cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries annually, in addition to a broad range of craniofacial and reconstructive procedures.

The center is operated by a UK-based charity and provides comprehensive cleft and craniofacial services to an estimated population of 10 million. Janakpur, the capital city of Madhesh Province, remains a significantly underserved area where nearly 40 percent of the population is illiterate and many individuals continue to live with untreated facial deformities and associated social stigma.

Visiting surgeons will have the opportunity not only to participate in clinical and operative care but also to engage in community outreach programs. These programs focus on patient and family education, stigma reduction, and strengthening pathways to surgical care for disadvantaged populations. The experience provides meaningful professional development while contributing to improved quality of life for patients living with facial differences in a deprived community.

Surgeons seeking hands-on experience, global health engagement, and exposure to high-volume cleft and craniofacial surgery will find this opportunity both professionally enriching and socially impactful.
